Amelia Mary Earhart has always been one of my most admired women pioneer heroes. Her influence has been long standing for our mature generation as well as the younger generation just now discovering her. Her concept of 'now', do it now...waiting may be too late...has been my mantra for most of my life....one that has worn me well. I would like to influence the younger generation with my sculpture of Amelia..would like to see in their eyes the look that Amelia has as she sees ahead of her time.
Amelia
The sculpture is 16 inches tall with an additional 2 1/4 inches of Manzanita wood base. She is removable from the base and stands alone if you would wish. The base adds stability and insures she will not topple. A brass name plate with the artist's name has been added since the pictures were taken.
Amelia has been sculpted using ProSculpt polymer clay for the head, breastplate, hands and arms, boots and legs. Her eyes are hand painted clay. The body is leather over a wire armature using Robert McKinley's method of body construction.
The goggles are sculpted of clay with plastic for lenses....very authentic looking.
Her clothing has been designed and hand made by the artist. Her flight jacket is soft fully lined leather....buttons made of clay....blue shirt of Dupioni silk...jodhpurs of lightweight wool...helmet of clay...silk scarf hand painted by the artist.
Amelia is a feast for the eyes and brings the observer pleasure. She is a delightful sculpture and would be a prized possession in your home.
