"Bringing Home the Tree"
Choosing and cutting a Christmas tree is a fond memory of when my children were small. This is my favorite. I've just completed this full clay sculpture and will do more of the same. As I grow in my art and continue to learn different techniques, I'm finding I enjoy the full body sculptures more and more. I'm eager to try wet clay, perhaps air dry clay to begin with, but definitely venture outside the comfortable cushion of polymer clay. The woman and child are post mounted to the horse and will need to be permantely glued once it's home. The dimension of the base is 9 X 12" X 13" tall. The stirrups were tricky, but are flexible and will fit over the tips of her boots. The wrap is fabric treated with a stiffening agent to hold its shape but still appears to be a woolen wrap. The tree is a little artificial one with lots of pretty snow atop. The horse's bridle is sculpted of clay, but the reins are leather. The saddle and blanket are sculpted. On the other side she carries her axe. She had to have a means of chopping the tree. Behind the saddle is a bunch of greenery. The child is overjoyed with just the joy of being a child. I do hope you enjoy looking at this sculpture. Thank you. $1295.00
