Buffalo Bill has always intrigued me. He had the vision and made us all see the old West through his Wild West Show. He has now come alive for me in this 19 inch portraiture sculpture made using the Robert McKinley method for his body armature. I sculpted him using ProSculpt polymer clay and used imported mohair for his gorgeous blond locks that he was famous for. I hand stitched and laced his leather buckskin jacket, fringed it and hand painted the roses. His fringed gloves are sculpted from clay with roses and flowers hand embossed and hand painted. The spatterdashes are black leather with a strap and buckle right above the knee. He wore his a little higher than many. The spurs fasten with a strap around the foot over sculpted boots and are embellished with turquoise. The wooden base is covered with cowhide and trimmed with rope. He either wears or holds the hat that is decorated with turquoise and a feather. He holds in the other hand a replica rifle made of resin and hand painted. Buffalo Bill was a flamboyant dresser and was usually groomed impeccably. I tried to portray him that way.
