If ever I can make a Santa that will steal your heart and make you want to display him the entire year, this is THE Santa. I took such care with his face, and as I painted his eyes, he began to sparkle and glow with the magic of Christmas and the love and the joy of the holiday. He does literally glow.
The sleigh is antique. I found it at an estate sale. How old, I cannot say, but it is old. I did nothing to it other than clean it as best I could and embellish it with Santa's trimmings. It has a beautiful brass lantern to guide Santa through the dark Christmas Eve trip (in addition to Rudolph's nose). Santa sits on a satin and lace trimmed pillow, with a satin lined, faux fur lap robe, tucked around his plump girth. I made the embellishments. This little reindeer is so beautiful. I thought about painting his nose red, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I did make him a fringed green wool blanket elegantly trimmed and a lovely rope with a bell for his neck.
Santa wears a long sleeved body suit (jumpsuit) of red cotton velvet with a separate hood. His fully lined circle cape is trimmed with faux leopard fur.
Santa's satin toy bag is loaded with toys, i.e.,rifle, baseball, guitar, sleigh, stick horse, and greenery, and is snuggly fitted to the sleigh.
Santa, if you took him out, is approximately 17" tall. The entire presentation in the sleigh is approximately 23" long, 7" wide, and he sits about 22" tall. The reindeer is 15" long from nose to back hoof, and is 16" tall from tip of antlers to front hoof. Santa is removable from his sleigh and is fully capable of sitting somewhere else. Why, I can't imagine. But is, if you desire such. His head, gloved hands, and booted feet are hand sculpted of Cernit polymer clay. The body is made of heavy duck cloth, filled with poly fill over a sturdy wire armature, and should last many, many years all the while filling your family with the joy, love, and beauty of Christmas.
