Stephen F. Austin was, according to our state history, the
Father of Texas. I’ve often thought of him in the past
when I would hear President Reagan called the ‘Great
Communicator’. He, too, was a great communicator, a
negotiator, a believer in our great state, and it is mostly  due to his heroic efforts that today we are ‘Texas’. He braved many trials and died a young man. It is in his honor that I bring a method of life to my interpretation of Mr. Austin.  I hope you enjoy him.

I used a technique on the soft body which makes it
feel like a leather body found on the antique dolls of
yesteryear. All of the accessories were hand sculpted of
clay; the rifle firing apparatus is metal, but the remainder of the Harper Ferry Rifle,1803, was sculpted of epoxy and clay, and I also made his leather attire.

His clothing makes the man that I see as Stephen F.
Austin. He would be just as comfortable in a morning suit
as I placed Mr. Sam Houston. Mr. Austin stood about
5’10”. This Stephen F. Austin stands about 18
½”, including the 1 inch thick walnut stained base.
